Quick answers about Google sign-in, magic links, billing, and tier access.
How do I sign in? +
You’ve got two options:
- Continue with Google — the fastest way.
- Email magic link — no password; we send a one-time link.
Do I need a separate Crate account? +
No. Your Techne membership and Crate access are unified. If you can read members-only posts on the blog, you can sign into Crate with the same email (via Google or magic link).
What happens after I subscribe or upgrade? +
Changes made in Stripe (via the Account → Manage billing portal) sync to Crate automatically. Sign in again (Google or email) and your tier (Community, Signal, or Forge) will reflect within seconds.
I used Google and it says I have no access? +
Make sure your Google account’s email matches the email on your Techne membership. If they differ, either:
- Sign in with the email magic link using your membership email, or
- Update the email on your membership to match your Google account.
I entered the wrong email when subscribing — help! +
Crate matches by email. Update your email in your blog/Stripe account, then sign in again (Google or magic link) using that same email.
Can I upgrade, downgrade, or cancel on Crate? +
Yes — go to your Account page and click Manage billing. You’ll land in your Stripe customer portal to change plans anytime.
Why can’t I access certain crates? +
Access depends on your tier:
- Community — free drops & starter crates
- Signal — curated monthly packs & early access
- Forge — full archive, experimental releases, priority drops
